HPS bulb distance question

U running a cool tube or a air cooled hood??
If so close. Should be able to get it within 5-8"
If not then put your hand above tallest cola palm down n lower the light if the back of your hand can withstand the heat n doesn't bother you. The u should be good just watch yer ladies over the next few days for heat stress.
Also make sure u got good air movement bellow and at the tops helps.
Now if u don't know and you veg under LEDs/t5's/CFCs you will need to acclimate them when going under the hid light.
Which means raise your light up and each day lower it a lil. To allow them to harden off n get use to the hid lighting.

Looking at your journal your light position seems too be fine. What is the temperature just below your light? That will tell you how close to get get. I like to keep track of floor temp and right under the light. Keeping that nice zone. I don't like to go over 85 degrees at light level. Hope this helps some.
