illegal drugs and how they became that way

I watched a show on the History Channel called illegal drugs and how they got that way. This one was about MJ. It suggested that really it beccame involved in an immigration problem during the depression. The Mexicans (notorious for growing and smoking mj) were no longer a useful labor force and those in the SouthWest wanted them back into their own country so they pushed for legislation to make mj illegal and in effect force them out--there are other factors as well, but nothing significant.

In fact they conducted a study in NYC that contradicted what they were claiming.

Anyway, I just thought that was interesting 2 know--it was the false propaganda that implied it caused mental illness and violence.
