well guys, i'm a semi-newbie grower. i have 1 previous grow under my belt but i did that with an old room-mate. now, fast-forward a "few" years and i'm bored. figured i'd grow some of my own since i HATE payin these outrageous prices around here. so, using GE CFL's rated at 26watts or 100watt incandescant. they are the daylight bulbs rated at 6500K and 1600 lumens each. started this grow around july 15th with one bulb in the laundry room. since then have upgraded to 4 bulbs in 2 fixtures like the ones shown in the "walmare $40 fixture" thread in lighting except i am using different bulbs. i think the ones i have are better for veging. i would post a link but i'm a newbie here so can't sorry. will swap to diff bulbs or possibly 400w hps for flowering if finances and my better half allow. here are the pics taken on 8-10-08! only 2 of 3 plants shown here. will post pics of all 3 in a sec.........

ok, here's all 3 on 8-22-08. pic 1 corresponds to pic 1&2 above and pic 2 is the same plant as pic 3 above. the last pic is the 3rd plant. also, transplanted to 2-liter bottles covered with black tape to block light from the roots. i'm not so much a cheap-***, however i have a much better half that watches "our" money like a jewish accountant. NO OFFENSE INTENDED! heres the pics:

Awesome man. Any certain strain you have going, or just bag seed? I love successful bag seed grows, a surprise every time.
400w are super cheap when it comes to HID. You have at least 2 weeks to get it before flowering. HidHut has some really efficient set-ups. Here's a 400w hps combo for $140

some new pics for u guys. big-3 are growing nice. 2 were topped about 5 days ago and recovering/growing nicely. my favorite, and biggest of the 3 was topped today. can't wait to see the results. also, posting some new pics of 17 new babies i got going. they should flower about 30-45 days after the big 3. anyway, here's the pics, prolly will flower the "big-3" in about 2 weeks. gonna do this flower under cfl and see how the results are. if they aren't what i expect i'll spring for the 400w hps for the babies to flower with!!

plants grew as they should have all along. here they are on 10-15-08. at about 1-1.5 wks into flower

then a little **** up happened. the timerEDIT and i didn't notice for a couple days. so the plants revegged for a couple days. fixed the prob now, and are 1 day back into flower. also, pics of the clones i took at the same time as the pics on 10-15. also, 2 new plants that are about 2 weeks from sprouting. i know pics are not the greatest but i'm stuck using the blackberry curve cam atm. upgrade coming soon---enjoy

Looks like they stretched on you a bit ut otherwise looking nice and green.

Whatever those white little cups are, ditch them, your sprouts could get root lock before you know it. Those look pretty shallow. Maybe beer cups, anything bigger, looks like the ones in the white cups are struggling a little...

Nice, im happy to see this grow, as im doing a similar thins and im new. but im only on the 30th day so i was interested on how mine was going to do. I what going to get a 400w HPS but as you i am even cheaper.
