Ok, I have a tent size of 4x4x6.5 ft and I have a 10 gal Rubermaid. My room temp is 76 degrees but my humidity is very low around 20-26%. I really don't have room for a humidifier any ideas on how to raise my humidity and keep control of it? I am going to save up for Temp/Humidity controller but they are in the upper $150-$200 dollars which I don't have that kind of money to spend at this time. I was looking on line and found that I could use a fogger/mister and wanted to know if anyone else has any better idea?

i think a fogger is a good idea, that low humidity will be good in flowering, your humidity will vary greatly between days and seasons, i use a dehumidifier and never needed a humidifier, you can hang wet towels in the room with the fan hitting on them, it will raise humidity a bit and a bubbler in an open butcket would raise it further, misting around the plants on the walls and floor would also help ;)

I would just set some pie pans of water out. I would not mist/fog my grow area continually

Ok, I fixed the problem, I had my MH bulb and turn that off and I now have two 125-watt CFL bulbs over the three little ones. I turned off the inlet fan and just have a fan blowing on them which is keeping the room temp at 75-77 degrees and the humidity was 20% and know is 35-38%. I am going to leave them like that until I can find out what’s going on with them right now. They are sick little Kush plants as we speak and I am trying to get them healthy again.

Real78,

Be careful of fogging or misting to raise humidity because the resulting condensation on the plants COULD cause mold or other problems. If that is the way you want to deal with the problem, try foliar spraying occasionally and let them completely dry between applications.

Also, I've just recently read that lower humidity give more resin and/or trich production than high humidity does. Personally I have no idea if that is true or not.

Cutting down on the air exchanges might help with the humidity like you have found, but be careful that you don't start CO2 starving them either. Personally, I would favor raising the humidity in the room that the fresh air is drawn in from over messing too much with the humidity inside the tent. Also, many HVAC specialists recommend humidity more in the 30 to 40 percent range rather than in 20s or lower for people and critter comfort.

Great smoking and happy 2010.

I will turn on the inlet fan twice a day to get fresh air in the room.

if you soak some perlite in water and put the perlite in a tray of some sort in your grow room, it will make it really humid.

i veg with very very low humidity and it has never been an issue,
but im in soil so i dont know if that makes a difference,

i find very low humidity causes me more issues while im drying it.

i have to slow the drying process down.

You need a continual supply of fresh air all the time the lights are for proper photosynthesis. IMO, low CO2 levels will be far worse on your plants than low RH.

If you have a 4 x 4 tent and only a 10 gal res in there, you should have plenty of room for a humidifier. Go to the local thrift store and buy a used humidifier--should be less than $5. Monitor the RH when the humidifier is on. If it gets too high, get a timer and have it shut off periodically. It could take a bit to dial in, but you should be able to do it fairly inexpensively.

Funny thing is I was thinking about doing that, great minds think a like. Yes, I do have room for one but was going to put two 10 gallons in there which just fit in the room but I think I may not be able to if my Humidity is low.

i like the humidifier approach myself but you can also just get an aquarium pump or two and pump air into the water to help facilitate evaporation. aqua pumps are pretty small and i you have tubs with water already in there then it sounds easy. just remember adding air to the water will make the ph fluctuate more. might help out the trees too.
