While Ph pens are pretty straight forward

ppm, tds, ec whateever it is i cant really understand the whole damn thing
i mean i know what they mean an stuff

example i have a hanna Dist ec/tds - temp. pen

the ec reading if i dip it in my tap water is 317 and the ppm reading is 150

wy is ec a large three digit reading when on charts i see levels should be 1.2 start up to 2.0 at the finish

very confused

I believe the ec is .317 - which would make your meter a .5 - meaning that 1.0 ec is equal to 500 ppm.

thanks for the reply
is this true?

Different manufacturers use different conversions from ec to ppm. Some are .5 which is 1.0 ec = 500 ppm and some are .65 which is 1.0 ec = 650 ppm. If you use ec instead of ppm you will always be correct because ec is the standard in the rest of the world other than the US. If you want to know the conversion of your particular instrument - contact the company.
