TRACY For the second time in as many days, detectives from the Tracy Police Departments Street Crimes Unit have uncovered a marijuana-growing operation inside a Tracy home.
Combined, the grow houses could have yielded upward of $1 million worth of marijuana, detectives said.
Acting on a tip from Pacific Gas & Electric about power theft, odor and the sound of blowers coming from a home on the 4400 block of Maplecrest Court, detectives began watching the house while obtaining a search warrant to enter it, Sgt. Mark Duxbury said.
A man driving a Chevrolet Tahoe pulled into the driveway and was contacted by Detective Perry Anderson.
The man, later identified as Charles Elizondo, 24, of Tracy told Anderson he was visiting a friend at the house, but a key on the vehicles key chain unlocked the front door, detectives said.
Marijuana could be smelled from the front door, detectives said.
After obtaining a warrant, investigators found about 150 marijuana plants in various stages ofdevelopment. The garage had been turned into a growing room with lights on timers, and a bedroom was used as a drying room, Duxbury said.
A wall was built next to the garage door to prevent light from escaping through the windows.
Weve had several of these this year, Detective Makeeba Moore said. Were into so many other things, so we cant dedicate a lot of time to stuff like this.
On Wednesday investigators unearthed a growing operation on the 1900 block of Foxwood Court.
After receiving a tip, detectives pulled over a truck driven by Sugey Felix, 30, and found drug paraphernalia inside, Duxbury said.
Detectives obtained a search warrant before entering the home, where they found 52 mature plants, 49 more drying and 134 starter plants.
