I got one plant about month old, growing rapidly
and and 12 other seedlings going on their 2nd set of leaves.
The other day I come home. I think i smelled some MJ as
I walked into my house. Considering its relatively new,
and when flowering and etc comes around. I can imagine
what its going to smell like. Even outside with the outside vent
being on.

Ok here are the dimensions of my grow room.
It was/is a roughed in basement bathroom.
7ft wide x 5ft wide x 8ft heights = 280sq ft.

It has AC vent, which works that plumbs cool AC air into the room.
- DOES AC AIR CONTAIN C02??
- If so, enough CO2 to keep MJ happy??

I do not have a INSIDE vent drawing fresh outdoor air into the grow room.
I did how ever, cut a 4inchx4inch hole in a discreet/blocked part of the
grow room, that draws air from the laundry room.
- Will indoor air from another room draw enough C02??

I also installed a 70cfm exhaust fan to the preexisiting exhaust vent.
Which is enough to exchange the air in 5 minutes. NE ways.
- I would like to RETRO fit some carbon ordor filters to the existing
exhaust fan/vent im currently using.

- Anyone using a Modified Bathroom exhaust vent with Carbon Filter??
Please tell me how you did it.. and PICTURES will be great.

- IF I DIY and jerry rig some carbon filters to the existing VENT.
Should I put the filter, before or after the Fan??

- Could I just stuff the Vent PIPE with carbon after the fan??
- Does the carbon have to fit tight/air tight in a canister to work?

I also placed a Large Ionic breeze air purifier in the room,
with the Negative Ion being used. Its making a little difference, i think.
BUT it is collecting white dusting all over its collection plate.

I can't have my home smelling like FRESH BUD, and outside can't either
because I have several LEOS that are neighbors. Granted it would
be out their jurisdiction, but all it would take is a phone call.

thanks in advance

OH YEA..

IS THERE anyway to QUIET the exhaust fan down??

I can here it humming in my living room.

I have read about someone putting a dimmer switch on the fan so you can slow it down a bit to reduce the humming sound. But of course, you will also loose some ventelation as well, so it depends on how much you need. Also, where does your exhuast fan exit? I have an exhaust fan in kitchen (non grow related) and it vents out over my front door so whenever I cook something in the kitchen, I can smell it by my front door!

From what I've read, putting a dimmer switch on a (computer?) fan is hazardous. :holysheep:

Try hanging the fan with bungee cord, or loop the loop the intake/outtake vents. :D

AC air is fine for your plants.

Right now, you're exchanging air about 12 times an hour. When you put on a charcoal filter, you're going to lose some of that. I've read that 'optimal' air exchange is at least 10 times an hour. You should consider buying a bigger fan, and make sure the air around the plants is breezy.

I would put the filter AFTER the fan, so that if any charcoal gets out, it won't bugger up the fan.

There's a couple charcoal filters guides, with step by step and pictures, over in the DIY section.

I've considered stuffing the vent with charcoal too.. and it'd probably work for a while.. but I think eventually the air would just push through the space on the sides.

Good luck :fly:
