Time to top?

I have three sets of leaves. Only 2 of them are 5 fingered and the lower one has 3. I've read to top after the 3rd set and sometimes the fifth. And is it that counting onlyf 5 fingered leaves?

Yea, what Mutt said, though if I'm working with clones, I'll top em once they get to 6 inches...

The way I was taught years back was to top at every 3rd set of leaves, starting with the third node from the cotyledon, take the top and do that on every subsequent branch. By the time its a foot tall it looks like a basketball, I did that with 10 plants under 4 48 inch floro tubes. I use floro tubes for rooting and getting clones ready for the flowering room
