this would be my first hydro venture!!! I would also add an air pump with air stone inside the resevoir as a dwc unit to keep oxegynated.

that's pretty much exactly what I have but mine doesn't have the drip thingy.

You could make your own without the drip tubeing and it will work great. Just add an air pump and an airstone and there is no need for the water pump and tubeing. It will cost you less to make your own and then you will learn from it and expand. There are instructions on this site. I made my first dwc using a black bucket, lid with a hole in it for a net pot, grow rocks, airstone, tubeing and air pump. Good Luck!

It doesn't make a difference. There isn't a need to upgrade it. The roots will be in the water in a week or so. I took a pic of a few of my girls. I will post it in little bit.
