Hello. I don't know if you all remember but a couple of months ago I started a grow with 2 AK48, 2 Afghani and 2 White Rhino. Out of the 6 so far I have 1 female Afghan, 1 female AK48:yay: and 2 male White Rhinos:rant:. I killed both WR but I took a cutting from the best one. For a Pure knockout smoke, which one would be a better mix...WRxAK48 or WRxAfghani:confused2:? I'll probably impregnate both of them but which do you think would produce better yield, taste, high or shortest flowering period? Thanks alot!

***UPDATE***Make that 2 female AK48, lights just came on! The wonderful thing about this is I had 8 out of 10 beans crushed in my pack. I planted the 2 survivors and crossed my fingers and both are female!

I would try the white rhino crossed with the ak...I havent smoked AK48 yet, because I havent gotten my grow up and running, but its supposedly a fast producer with a pretty high yield and has a decent thc content, but mix that with white rhino, I bet it would be all over.

I think you may get more 'hybrid vigor' from the WRxAfghan....but I am a little biased....Afghan smells so good...:joint:

Sure will. I think i'm going to sex them both. Question though...do you think I should put the male into a totally diff room? I know, stupid question but 2 minds work better than one.

No, not really necessay, but it can be nice to 'attempt' to control the amount of seeded / unseeded you get...unless you want all seeds.

You can also just give him a day in there in early flowering...say 3-4 weeks. Remove him after 12 hours or so with them and a fan going, and clean up good. Within a few days you should see pistils 'die' or retract and brown....much like they do at harvest, only they get much bigger.

With a little experimentation, you can get an idea of how many seeds will me made, and with timing, you can still have smoke too.

How big will the fems be? If you post a few pics as you go along, I might be able to make guesses at the number of seed from their size and stage of flowering.

I wouldn't want to seed all of my bud either.

If you keep the male in another area, then you can seed only a branch or two. That way you don't have seed all over the place.

Using a bag is good because it contains the spread of the pollen. Otherwise you might get pollen migration from the chosen branch to some other areas too; like if you use a fan or from gravity or jostling of the plants. You can bag the branch after pollenating, or you can use the bag as a tool for pollenating by putting the male parts in there before you bag the female and then shaking them and letting them bake together. With shaking, there will more pollen laying about. The branch should be bagged for a couple of days at least, even if you do take the male parts out in the meantime. Putting the pollen directly on the hairs is neater. For each hair you pollenate, there will be one seed.

My AK is going to be done before my Afghani. The bag thing doesn't work as well as people claim. When you bag part of a plant humidity builds up BAD!!!This isn't good since pollen dies when wetted.

It's from Nirvana so I guess theres a chance my Afghan isn't pure. My WR was a hermie and was replaced by a Purple Widow male. What I did was isolate the plant until the pods opened. I took some aluminum foil and tapped the pod until the pollen fell onto the aluminum foil. Then I paint brushed my AK and Afghani with the pollen. They are pregnant now! Can't wait to grow some P48(AK48xPurpWidow) and Purple Afghan(Afghani x PW).
