I've been using diatomaceous earth to control my gnat problems and I was wondering if I can use it around seedlings or if this will have an adverse effect on them.

The stuff has been working great, but I've seen some gnats flying around my seedlings and I don't want them to harm the roots. Can I sprinkle some around the seedlings to kill the gnats or is there a better method?

DE is perfectly sfe for seedlings. The 'only' concern/problem that could possibly come about, would be introducing an excess of calcium. DE is very high in ca. Water from the bottom and eliminate washing it down into the soil.
Gnats are 'usually' a sign of 'over watering'...;)
