help"topping" problem, how is it done?

so i want to top 2 of my plants, are they old enough, there 14" tall and i want them to be bushy and not tall. heres somee pics, sorry there not that good.

on the leafs there are now nine things on each leaf, does that meen its a female, or can a mole have 9 instead of 7

you cant tell sex by the fingers of the leaves.. urban myth my friend.. do a search on sexing or go to the grow resources and you will get plenty of information.. any1 can tell you yes or no but wouldnt you want to know what to look for yourself?.. Good luck..
