mogul base?

I was checking out cfl (Compact Florescent Lights I assume) They reference Mogul Base?
What do they mean ? is it just an oversized socket?
any ifo is appreciated

You need a ballast for any CFL or HID lamp, most CFL's are built in but most CFl's dont need a mogul base.

got a link to the bulb? It will say if it needs a ballast.

only high wattages for example 125,150,200w cfls need a mogul socket,all come with ballasts attached to them.
