hi all, well im a bit stuck....
every where i go i cannot find the information i need, and wondered if anyone here could help?
well i have a 2m x 2m x 2m = 8 cubic meters grow area, im planning on growing about 8 sativa/indica strain in a hydroponic system (ebb&flow i think not sure yet).
i just want to know how much light will be needed for this?
i was going to go with 1x 1000W hps but got worried about the temperature.
so then i thought about 2x 600w hps but did not know if this was too much,
or 2x 400w hps, its all a little confusing, obviously i want optimum results.
i do not have a co2 release mechinism yet but plan on getting one next crop.
i know its not to do with watts and more to do with lumines, can anyone help?
thank you

kindo in the same boat. built a 2'x4'x5' high box. doing a drip/deep root. thinking of filling the damn thing with 4' flours

ive got some flours for veg but everything ive read are hps for best results lol
my grow room is 6'x6'x6' heard alot about 3000 to 5000 lumen's per square foot, my math aint all that but 6x6=36 36x6=216 216xcall it 4000 lumen's=864000 lumen's but how many lights is that and what watt are they lol someone please help

You are figuring cubic feet (6x6x6) and all you need to figure is square feet (6x6). You have 36 sq ft to light. I figure about 30 watts per sq ft for vegging and 50W per sq ft for flowering. So figure about 1800W of light for your space for flowering.

Or if you figure it by lumens,
36 sq/ft= 180,000 @5000 per sq/ft

1000 watt HPS = ~140,000 lumens
600 watt HPS = ~90,000 lumens
400 watt HPS = ~47,000 lumens

2 600 watt HPS would work great.

i just want to thank every one who posted.. im a noob and was a little confused at first but now all is clear... i did not know it was square feet you had to calculate so thanks all

I have always found it interesting that the 600 puts out more lumens per watt than the 1000. Do you know the reason for this?

No I dont, all I do know is only hydro shops sell the 600 and the electrical supply places will tell you they dont make a 600.
It seems a 600 watt is a grow light only. no industrial aplication.

for each square centimetres 3,3 lumen at minimum and 5,5 lumen ideally. 220,000 lumen ideally.

not being smart, but why does it say on my 400w HPS eye hortilux that it is at 55,000 lumens?i surely do not know.thats why i ask.thanks to all
