Curing Different Strains together

Can you cure multiple strains in the same jar? Will the taste be effected if so? Will one strain start to take on flavors/smell of the other?

I had a few strains in a jar together and the smell of the strains just kind of combined into a strong muckish smell. Individually they all smelled and smoke fine, however, so I'd say a weird smelling jar is the only con.
