Growth after pre-flowering

Hey I got a quick newbie question do plants grow any taller or wider after vegetative growth is over and budding begins.

There is a thing called stretch, it happens right before buds come on, then your flowers will put on more height. Yes, there is some upward growth to the buds. If you were indoor, they say double your plant height (I think) for room for buds in closets. Outdoor is different I am sure. I got some buds a week or so away from harvest have put on at least half an inch in the last week at least. I am growing outdoor too.
