so i bought the 20dollar hps from econolight. But as i look at the bottom of it i see 3 wires coming out shouldnt it only be 2?? and also can u have it so u dont use the glass fixture covering the bulb?

the black and white wires are from the socet for the bulb ....but there is also what looks like copper wire that is attached to the pce with a screw??

imo you want that glass covering the bulb, it allows you to place it closer to the plants without burning them. as for the 3 wires. they'll come with 3 but you only need 2. i removed the bare copper wire and used the remaining 2. works fine. i seperated the bottom half of the gray housing so i could keep the ballast outside my flowering box. hope this helps
