Hey everybody. I just smoked a little bud from my drybox.:hubba: Not to bad, considering that it was my very first plant I have harvested. Another few days in the closet, then into the jars. I have four more girls that need a few weeks yet, but I ran out of My Gen hydro 2-part bloom. I intened to switch my nutes to Dutch Master, which I have done for my new grow. But since I am out of the Gen Hydro, and I will need some new nutes b-4 they are finished. does anybody know it that will be an issue? Swithching nutes during the last bit of flowering? I am just worried about shock or something. I am this far along, and would hate to ruin things now.

In my last grow, I changed nutes late during flowering after running out of what I had been using. I bought better nutes and the plants seemed to appreciate it.
I am far from an expert though, still quite new but I would suggest as long as you have not been using something wierd or exotic, if you match the kpn values (on the side of the bottle) the plants wont know what brand they are. (Unlike us mere humans, plants are not impressed by labels)
Green mojo on its way
Peace

The main concern when switching nutes is the differences in the way each manufacturer approaches achieving the same nutritional goals. Occasionally you can end up with a deficiency or over-fert while the plants transition.

Generally it's not a big issue, but it's a good thing to keep in mind. Since underfeeding is less of a problem than overfeeding, I'd always start out the new nutes a little weaker than you think. Let the plants adjust and then carefully dial up to full strength. You might lose a little yield but it's better than burning them and losing more.

Don't switch from high quality to low quality nutes if there's any way around it. Going the other way around is usually problem-free as long as you don't feed aggressively for the first week or two (give the plants some time to flush the crud out of their system.)
