Vaporizer = Hookah?

I am going to be buying a vaporizer in the next few days and was wondering if it could double as a hookah? I know a hookah has water and coals but wouldn't the vaporizer have a similar effect of heating the Shisha? Would it be better to get a whip or bag style vaporizer if you can use a vape for double duty or would it be like weed and just come down to personal preferance.
