Howdy! Everyone this is my first grow. I started out with three sprouts now I only have 2 plants. I think the one that died wasn't getting enough sun or something. Anyways these guys are about 3-4 weeks old and just wondering if they look ok so far. I am just trying to learn so any input is welcome. Thanks!

wow...there seems to be a lot of clay in that soil or somethin.

what are trying to accomplish? i got short plants with few budsites in soil like that. if your expecting big trees than you may want to think about digging large holes and adding perlite and whatever nutes you will be using.

my experience with hardpacked soil is that the water runs off and does not saturate more than few inches leading to a starving plant.

Personally, I would transplant those babies into some good soil immediately. I have done outdoors many times and this is the method I have always used: I get a few bags of good soil (promix or something similar). I dig a good-sized hole..at least 3 feet deep and 2 feet in diameter. I then line the inside of the hole with some strong clear plastic. Slash a few holes into the plastic to let the excess water drain from the plastic when it's watered. The plastic keeps other plants' roots out of the good soil. Then plant your baby in the hole. You can put some of the regular dirt on top of the good dirt to make it less obvious that there is high quality potting soil there if someone happens to walk by. I then put other various sticks, rocks, dead weeds, ect...ect... on top of the dirt to further conceal the good potting soil and voila!! It looks normal but your baby has some very good dirt to grow strong in. That's what I recommend. That would be far superior to what you have going on right now. Just my thoughts. Good luck and take care. Be safe.

Yea the plants look really good but i don`t think they are going to stay that good looking in that soil they are in. I would have put a bag of good dirt in each hole.

I got this very advice from longtimkegrower just last year. And I followed it and thanked him several times along the way. :)

Search Smokinmom's attempt in the journal area if you care to see my ladies. Probably on page 7 by now...lol.

Good luck!

yeah dont wanna sound like a parrot, but that soil is no good, and you will see that in a few weeks for yourself, but i wouldnt let it get that far if i were you. read the posts above and get some decent soil for those babies.

anything will be better than that mate. m going to using "specialist cuttings soil" from B&Q (uk) it has perlite in it, and its very light and airy, so if you decide to go for something similar, then make it heap so that when it gets wet and compresses itself then the plant cannot get waterlogged. with a mound the water that isnt needed will just run down the sides and not effect the plant.

Bonk- I just bought a big bag of potting soil and filled in the hole I dug with it. The soil had nutes already as well. Easy as pie. ;)

I'm just worried about killing my ladies when I put them in new soil. I think they are big enough for it tho.

They look great but there looks like there is alot of clay or something in your soil.

you should definently consider switching soil.

Try fox farm organic soil, its great :)

Good luck. I'm glad you decided to put them into some good soil. You will be rewarded this harvest season. I'm praying that they are both female for ya my friend. Take care and be safe.
