Early pollen, male flower Q

Do i have to keep this male under 12/12 for 8-10 weeks;
Do they flower quicker?
i was hoping the first 2 week grow burst of 12/12 would be enough. i only want a little pollen

It will drop pollen early on and keep dropping it.
when it drops collect what ya need and ditch the plant. mine i let go for about 3-4 weeks.
