I know one of my good friend did that 4 time in same water tank lamo... it work with sydform to float it but have to replace water 3 time when growin it sometime 2 times.. but you can use air stone bubbler to keep water clean and keep ntf running the water currents

Yeah.
Step one: Tape up all the glass so no light get's threw.
Step two: Fit a piece of Styrofoam or string or some how to maintain the hight.
Step three: Throw in a air stone/air pump

If you had a large enough tank with high enough waste levels provided by fish you could grow whatever you wanted. Tilapia blackened with some lemon makes for some awesome munchies. Seriously, it can be done, but your not talking a cheap 10 gallon tank to support much more than lettuce without ALOT of work. A 5 gallon bucket system would be better... forget the goldfish!
