How do your root look?

As I used the soil from my earthbox to fill a hole my dogs gifted me I thought I would look at the final roots although there were so many tiny roots they filled 1/4 of the water reservoir. This are just the main stalks and they look like muscles!

Is this common?

Also note the first one is meditating and the second is relaxed…as viewed

Root Knot Nematodes can do something like that. I have never seen a root system like that on a pot plant.
