Can I apply that to buds that are hanging up?

that is a good question

the instructions say that Oxidate can be used 24 hours before harvest on eatable fruits and vegetables , it off gasses pretty fast

but we are not smoking any of those fruits and veggies , so there is that to consider

i do not know if it would work on already harvested buds

but you can perform an experiment and spray some buds and observe if it has eliminated the powdery mildew

everyone has their standards and limitations and we are all different

having said that , I would not smoke any flowers that had signs of powdery mildew and that is because I have to protect my immune system….

I seriously have my whole years worth of weed already hanging up, and I still have two plants to go. I will be throwing out every stitch of weed that has signs of mildew. That’s not how I die.

Thanks for the info! I think I’ll do a very light misting of milk/water mixture this evening and keep air flow and humidity low in the office where it’s hanging. That little mixture has been great for the spots I’ve identified, so I’ll stick with that.

I’m almost lollipoping and defoliating my other two plants to give them time to recover and flower out just right. These derpy “popcorn buds” are where the PWM lived it’s very best life.

Just checked in on the Afghan today, and she seems to be ready (remarkably). It looks like the buds are still wanting to fatten up a bit (as seen in the picture of the main cola). I figure that I’ll treat Friday of last week as the last feeding and I’ll start flushing this week!

What do y’all think? I’m liking all this amber, but is a week and a half too long at this point? I don’t want to overcook it if I can help it.

I tried soaking some buds in water. I think they call it ‘water curing’ if I am not mistaken. It takes away most of the smell(so probably the terpenes too which isn’t optimal). I soaked them for 24 hrs in a mason jar then poured out the water. Filled the jars again and repeated the drain, refill I think 4 times until the water was clear coming out. I did it because I was planning on making some edibles that didn’t have the weed flavoring for my mother. Never got that far as far as making the butter then edibles but the buds dried up nicely. Look up water curing to see if anyone has done testing for contaminates. It may not be your cup of tea as far as smoking goes but may be ok to smoke too. Just a suggestion…

I ran into mildew on an outdoor grow once. I hacked the buds and carved out the mildewed part and turned the rest into bubble hash. I've got asthma and am allergic to mold/mildew, and it didn't bother me a bit.
YMMV.

I’ve just been cutting the bits of PWM off and I haven’t had a problem since they’ve been chopped! All in all, I’m not sweating it. I’m certainly being cautious of it, but I’m not letting it keep me up at night.

If your growing outside, and looks like you were, try going out early am and give them all a little shake..
what will happen this time of year is, heavy morning dew. As the sun rises it dries the heavy dew right where it is and thus, over a few days, can cause this very issue.. IMHO. Or, you can do what I did and give it to 3 of your 4 flowering plants by trying to kill fungus gnats with hydrogen peroxide.. I used WAY to much and the results was a huge outbreak of powdery mildew, I had to chop 3 down, throw away 2..
UBC Chem x M39 was the only plant that held up to it... so, I'm going to breed with Barefrog's pure UBC..

Thanks for weighing in! I’ll make sure to do that when I bring them out in the mornings!

Presidential OG in the grove bag!

20.7 grams, which is roughly how much I use a year anyway, and it’s the most stunted of four plants. I’m very happy with that, because that would’ve been one of my bigger harvests per plant last year and this girl was dinky compared to the other three. Weird how doing this more than once has something to do with how well you do it…

I trimmed this morning and popped it all into the grove bag. I didn’t do the heat seal or measure it with a hygrometer, but when we get back from a travel this weekend I’ll “burp” the bag and check on everything and go from there. It had a 10 day dry and felt as good as any other plant I’ve trimmed, so we’re curing now.

The smell is fantastic. Earthy with a hint of diesel. I may sample it tonight so stay tuned there!

Afghan update!

Started the two week flush today! Once again, upped the water from 1/2 gallon to 2 gallons.

Trichomes looks great! If you haven’t been reading up to this point, I’d say she’s in “extra credit” mode where she’s ready to have good smoking weed, but more time in the ground can only make it better.

No signs of mold/mildew at all! Her fungal resistance to this point has been awesome! She’ll need to stay outside the next few days with a tarp up, so if she can stand the humidity there, I may bring her into the office and put her under the “bad light” to finish since the humidity is getting real now.

(Other) Presidential OG update!

Gave her “the final meal” this morning! From here on out, she’s in the two week flush. I think these last few weeks will be great for her main cola as it’s starting to stack up nicely, and since I’ve already harvested one of the same plant a few weeks ago, I know how fat that cola can get, and how much bud she can make.

I would say that she’s easily 6” taller than the other plant which produced a little over 20g, so I think she’s going to be north of an oz at the very least!

Her trich’s are about where I’d expect. It looks like 45/45/10 clear to cloudy to amber, so she’ll be a treat after the flush.

I definitely have my eye on this one for bud rot. The cola in the last plant got very fat and dense, which may be problematic in this part of the summer. If she can make it to next week, I’ll rotate her and the Afghan inside and help her just stay healthy until the final chop.

Keep the rain and dew off of her and keep air circulating. She'll be fine.
The air circulation part may be a bit tricky since it’ll be under a tarp, but I’ll try to set it up such that air can move through it nicely.

Just sampled the Presidential! Great!

Still pretty damp. It actually made a lil bullet in my one hitter lol!

Could I leave it in a paper bag for about four days? We’re going on a trip tomorrow and I can’t fuss over it there.
