newbie question

so my grow room space is bout 8ft tall and bout 5ft 6 by 5 ft.. i was told 3000 lumens during veg and 5000 for flowering would be good for that size.. does this sound about rite? and if that b the case would me buying a 400 or 600 hps b to much heat/ light for the plant? wut lighting(lumens and type of lights) would b best for a grow ?
