An a/c dropping the room 8 degrees really would cost less. A pot of water in the freezer takes energy from the freezer lowering its temp and triggering the thermostat to turn on the compressor. Its actually the same thing as an a/c with more work and only an 8 degree drop.

But i am a mcgyver at heart and i do like the idea. Just to much work for me.
