I remember the NYC sewer weed myth back in the 70’s where someone flushed seeds and some grew in the sewer in near complete darkness but I think that was simply a myth. With biology, almost anything is possible. There are organisms that live in complete darkness deep in the oceans that live off of vents spewing toxic(to other life forms) gases. They may not even be carbon based.
