Smell question

i put 3 plants that were really small into flowering, like the smallest was about, 4inches. they were pretty strong tho. the smallest one when i smell it right up close smells like a straight up skunk. doesnt make the room smell or anything like that. its only been under 12/12 for roughly 2-3 days. the guy i got em from said they were jamaican gold. ive grown em before but it was male. so what do i make of this lol

you may need to invest in a carbon scrubber,theres a do it yourself one in the diy part of the forum.some strains smell more than others,the farther the flowering process progresses,the more of a scent the plants will create.if you are in the position where smell is a problem,you may have to check out one of them carbon scrubbers.i even use the glade plug ins but they get expensive after a while.

yea,if its already puttin out a stank at 4-6 inches..you bet that your gonna have some skunky girls.dont kill em cuz they stink though,there's ways around it.i have some around the same age right now also,(a month old) they smell absolutely beautiful.i love the smell of skunk.the skunkier the better. =)it comes with the sport/hobby.just like a heat issue or something along them lines,just another loop hole to overcome. if theres a will theres a way

Smell is good and bad. A strong smell from my plants always gets my heart going pitter-pat. It can work as a marker telling you that you got some dank growing well, but I have even run across lousy smoke that just stunk to beat the band. You can have mj that stinks so bad you just know that the whole neighborhood is aware, and waiting for you to cure it and then they will be there for a party.
Smell is just a good part of growing, but most good folks have no idea why a plant might smell so strong. Pheromones, you might want to study this.
You need to perhaps build yourself a carbon scrubber. The strong smell is a direct path that sets you up for getting popped. If you can smell it then so can others. A Leo doggie can smell it coming from your place and might alert, then you might be screwed, so be cautious bud. Just my ramblin $0.02 worth LOL.

I used to think that smell and potency were related, but not any more; the strongest plants I've ever grown have almost no smell, even when flowering; and some sativas I picked for their very strong smell turned out all to be males! But I must admit, just like KingKahuuna, when the smell of a just-picked cola is totally sour and makes me grind my teeth, it's "Oh YEAH, plantita, DO it to me!"

You got that right dude. Growing is super addictive period, but I think what the biggest rush for me is when your buds bust out with color, and smell in combo, followed by that sugar coated look. LOL I always just think snort them crystals. Take my shirt off and just whip me with all those crystals and resins, Ha- Ha.

I have some of the same issues with my grows.. i just keep thinking im doing something wrong. but give it time. they will stink!!
i only had one plant that didnt stink. i grew it under flours and harvested way too early

I have noticed that some of the stinkier plants have seemed to be more males than females for me as well.

Same here. Males are stinky compared to females. Same holds true for humans to. But some of those girls get ripe in there maturity......
I know mine seem to only start to stink up the house when the lights are on...
