taking a 2nd harvest

i have been told that if u just take the ripe buds off then wait a few more weeks that new buds will growin there place making your harvest more.does anyone do this or is it a waist of time?

i was just told this too by a man who knows and i was wondering if this is true cause i got 1 flowering on my patio. it doesnt get below freezing here so i think thats a plus
