So whats the deal with switching flowering times by 12 hours? For instance, I am currently on a 7am-7pm light cycle, but after further research, and other reasons, I want to switch the lights on to 7pm-7am, what's the best way to do this? And also, if possible, I am open to other reasons why one would run their lights in the night time, excluding heat related issues. Thanks.

id switch the lights off at 7pm and leave them in the dark for 24hrs untill 7pm. start your new cycle and stick to it. To many changes to the light cycle might cause hermies, but once wont be a problem. Ive left grows in the dark for a few days and have also done similar to what you are thinking..mainly because its cheaper on the bills at that time of night. Also in my mind atleast I appear to be a night owl or running a night heater, and thats a bit better than being a lazy bum at home all day with the electric blazing away..btw if you are asleep its probably a good idea to make sure you have a working smoke alarm near the grow room and close enough for you to hear it. hope thats some help mate :)

gumby,
Thanks for your reply. Makes sense to leave them for 24 hours in darkness before switching to new light cycle. As for the smoke detector, got that covered; my flowering room was originally a bedroom, so it already came equipped with one. Thanks again for your input.

Gumby hit the nail on the head...just leave i dark until the time you want to start your cycle.

I have a couple other reasons besides heat issues for haveing lights on at night.

1) when I'm working I work during the day and am home at night, so it's the best time for me to get work done in the grow.

2) meter readers are out during the day, and I don't really like the idea that they can see that little wheel in there spinning twice as fast as the neighbors. I know they can look up my consumption if they want...but anyone could walk up to my meter in broad daylight and see it spinning...if I'm home while the spinning is going on, I'll at least see someone...I guess its a peace of mind thing.

I agree legalize_freedom, thanks for your tips. Although I am home during the day, I am a poker player, so I play at night, the less people that know, the better off I am.

I'm a poker player to...lol...just not good enough to make a living at it...lol

I was born a loser

I agree with legalize and gumby, Id prefer light cycles with light on at night and light off during the day, simply for me because the temp.

Yea legalize_freedom, it's a tuff way to make an 'easy' living.
zem, I only play in 'real' casinos, so I would not be able to recommend any online sites. As for the brick and mortar poker rooms; Venetian, Bellagio, Plant Hollywood, and the Stratosphere. Yes that's right, lol, the Stratosphere is a 'fish'ery:-x Rio is only good for WSOP events.
Thanks EsC420PoT, I plan on changing my light cycle to evening hours tommorrow night; 7pm-7am.
