Starting the morning on an upbeat note with a dental cleaning appointment, followed by breakfast out. An empty calendar otherwise.

I always tried to remember to change my Mom's every spring. If it went off due to a crapped out battery, she couldn't get to it, so she'd swat the thing off the ceiling with a broomstick.

My dog goes nuts when he hears that dam low battery beep
even though it is a far spread out beep he pulls me out of bed until we find it and fix it. Good Buddy I have.

Realizing these are really old I am now considering upgrading the system to something wireless and are dual carbon monoxide/smoke detectors

You aren't alone. My biggest regret is my hearing. No ear plugs in the Army, loud bars, rock music and never used ear plugs at the drag strip. Funny Cars and AA Fuel Dragsters will do that. Plus all the other s-hit we all did when we were 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Fast forward 50 years and arthritis along with constant back pain.
